Today I read with interest a Power Point presentation from the Wisconsin Juvenile Court Intake Association Conference, September 24, 2008. Unfortunately, it seems that this presentation has been blocked from some computers, but this presentation defined Domestic Violence as: a pattern of assaultive and coercive behaviors – including physical, sexual, and psychological attacks as well as economic coercion – that adults…. use against their intimate partners.
For those of you who have been questioning if you are indeed in an abusive relationship, I urge you to first, take a look at the above link (if possible) or contact The National Domestic Abuse Hotline 1-800-799-SAFE and you will be helped. Remember, you are not alone, you CAN get out of an abusive relationship, but it is YOU who need to take the first step. Save yourself, save your family, get the help you need. You cannot do it alone. There are people out there who can help you.
You can do it, give them call.
