Trust in the Lord? Why?

Proverbs 3:5: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…”

“Really, trust in the Lord? Why not just trust myself and others, why trust in God?” my biking buddy Anthony asked me the other day as we were sitting at a small wooden table in Starbucks enjoying our steaming hot lattes.

A Parent’s Gift

Ever feel so frustrated as a mother that all you can think of are three things:

1. I don’t need this.

2. If only (insert child’s name) would stop complaining and just do her homework.

3. (unprintable)!

4. I need chocolate NOW!

I have and there are days when………..

Internet is like a box of chocolates

Blessings among us

Sometimes I wonder if we really appreciate all that we have. I know that I, for one, take so much for granted; living in a warm safe home, healthy (relatively) children, loyal (but, continually shedding) dogs. My friends, I have few, but they are loyal.

Sometimes I get so caught up my daily concerns and worries that I forget

The times they are a-changing

Perhaps that something is called personal responsibility, doing the right thing or, as I heard someone say, “charting [...]

Parenting Teens

n this hectic world of parenting teens, time sometimes seems to flash by. Chauffeuring my teens to their appointments, friend’s homes and various events, along with health issues makes for a very busy and sometimes chaotic household. What strikes me as upsetting though is …….

A Picture is Worth A Thousand Words

In elementary school, my youngest daughter would continually come home telling me that the math her class was being taught was too easy and boring her. I urged her to tell her teacher about getting some extra work to do. But my sweet girl, being rather shy declined to do so. Putting on the parenting robe I contacted her teacher about this, and was pretty much …….

Those who cannot remember the past…

I think the hardest thing about parenting is seeing the ghosts and fears of my past returning to my consciousness when I am having difficulties with my children. George Santayana who was a philosopher, essayist, poet, and novelist wrote: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
That may be true, but many times, especially as a parent, what I do remember……
